Yesterday evening after the thunder rolled through Gorgeous Prince George’s, #Engine332 and #Truck33 were dispatched to the 9500 block of Ruby Lockhart Boulevard for a report of smoke coming from the roof of an apartment building. Company 33 arrived as units from the 1st Battalion went on scene of a 4-story apartment building with smoke showing from the roof. Truck 33 took position on Side A as the 1st due truck and Engine 332 positioned on Side C as 3rd due engine. Interior crews made their way to the 4th floor as the outside team from Truck 33 gained access to the roof as fire became visible from the peak. Engine 332 gained access to the attic space from below and began to extinguish the fire as Truck 33’s crew on the roof opened up from above. Crews worked for approximately an hour and a half to open up and wet down hot spots before racking up and returning to service. Fire was contained to the attic space and cause was determined to be the result of a lightning strike on the structure.
