2024 Year in Review Statistics for Kentland Volunteer Fire Department Company 33.
Kentland 33 is recognized as the busiest volunteer fire department in the United States. On May 26, 1995, the leadership of the department was informed by the Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) that career personnel would be withdrawn from the station, leaving the responsibility of staffing the units entirely to volunteers. As of December 31, 2024, it has been 10,812 days since career staffing was removed and during this time, the volunteers of Kentland have successfully responded to every call without being understaffed or going out of service due to staffing issues.
In 2024, Kentland 33 had 5,403 unit responses to 4,676 incidents, including 115 Working Fire Dispatches (WFD), the most of any Company in the county. There were 136 fire apparatus responses from Co. 33 to the 115 WFDs, but we only considered 89 of these as “fires”.
Ambulance 833, a BLS unit staffed by career personnel on overtime, reponded to 3,602 incidents in 2024. These responses are not included in any of the other company 33 numbers.
